How To Choose A Diamond

There are thousands of pieces of diamond jewellery on the web these days, so it can be a little confusing. Understanding a diamond report and the factors affecting a diamond's cost will help you make a confident and sound decision when bidding. The value of a diamond is determined by its Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat, also known as the classic "Four C's".

What does "Certified Diamond" mean?

A certified diamond means that it has been submitted to a lab for quality analysis. When the diamond has been graded, it will come with a certificate stating the diamond quality.  This now means the diamond is “certified”.

Why are all diamonds not "Certified?"

The main reason all diamonds are not certified is because of cost.  It may not be cost effective selling on short margins to pay for the certificate.  So less expensive diamonds may not be "certified”. That doesn't mean that a high quality diamond that is not certified (or hasn't had the chance) is worth any less.

The Diamond Jewellery Guide >>>

Finding the GEM that is Uniquely YOU

Firstly, I would like to point out that ultimately which is "best" is a personal preference. Different depths of colour are not more, or less expensive, contrarily to what some believe. Choose whichever depth of colour you personally find the most attractive. Choose what you like, using your own judgment, rather than buying what you think looks the most expensive.

Diamonds >>>

Stars of the earth! Most diamonds are slightly coloured, even if the colouring can hardly be seen. The most common colour is yellow; others are grey, light brown or greenish. Diamonds can be almost any colour, although strongly coloured attractive stones are rare. Occasionally you can see blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, brown, and even black.

Diamonds are the most brilliant of gemstones. Diamond jewellery is treasured as a symbol of Everlasting Love and Perfection.

Emeralds >>>

The most loved emeralds are generally those with an intense rich green colour with plenty of sparkle and life. Some experts say that a dark velvety green is the most valuable. The main choice in the colour of emeralds depends largely whether you prefer lighter but brighter stones or, a deeper more intense colour.

Emeralds are one of the most prized of all gemstones; the rich green colour symbolizes Growth and Fertility.

Rubies >>>

The most stunning rubies are those with an intense red colour and plenty of sparkle and life. Ultimately, which is "best" is a personal preference. Choose whichever colour of ruby you personally find the most attractive. The main choice in the colour of rubies depends largely whether you prefer the reds or the pinkish. One important factor when selecting a ruby is to ensure that it matches your nail varnish!

Prized by kings throughout the ages, the precious ruby, one of the rarest of gems, is a symbol of Happiness and Good Fortune.

Sapphires >>>

The most popular sapphires are generally those with an intense blue colour, and plenty of sparkle and life. Most think of a sapphire being blue. However, apart from the normal range of dark blues to pale blues, sapphires can be white, violet, gold and even red.

Known for its brilliance, durability and deep celestial blue hue. Sapphire is a symbol of Faith and Goodness.

Aquamarines >>>

Aquamarines are a beautiful pale colour if you are looking for something subtle; it’s unusual to find an aquamarine with any depth to the colour in comparison with other gemstones.

In ancient times aquamarine was thought to be capable of preserving youth and health. Aquamarines Symbolize Peace and Tranquillity.

Opals >>>

Opals come in a variety of colours; they are the most colourful gemstones. Having said that, there are some opals that are colourless. They can be very bright and beautiful, but can also be dull and dead. An opal can have flashes of colour or no flashes at all. They can be black or white.

Opals are best known for their dazzling, fiery combination of colours. Opal is a symbol of Hope and Inspiriation.

Pearls >>>

Pearls can be black, steelgrey or white; they can also be silvery white, green, pink, golden yellow or cream, depending on where they are produced.

The cultured pearl is extremely popularin fine jewellery for its Classic, Pure and Quiet Beauty.

Amethysts >>>

Amethysts are one of the most beautifulof the coloured gemstones The quality of amethysts can vary considerably. The most important attribute is that it should be an attractive colour. The rich, deep violet colour is generally the favourite and most expensive, but a stone of medium colour intensity, with plenty of sparkle can also be very attractive. Royalty has used amethysts throughout the ages; they are symbols of Wisdom, Strength and Confidence.

Topaz >>>

The classic precious topaz is Yellow orange-brown in colour. A topaz will go with almost anything you wear. It is one of my favourites. Topaz is one of today's most popular precious stones. It symbolises Strength and Intelligence.
